Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 20 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen posed a question to civil society organizations asking why they only protect women in the opposition and not women in the Royal Government.
The premier spoke at the graduation ceremony, held on Monday morning (Feb 20) at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
The premier’s question came after more than 40 NGOs in Cambodia demanded the condemnation of Pheng Vannak for slandering a woman who was an anchor of the former VOD radio. On the contrary, the 40 NGOs did not take any action against convict Sam Rainsy’s misinformation and insult against Hun Sen family.
“I was saddened by the loss of my wife’s sister and at the same time, my wife and my family were insulted. Pheng Vannak slightly offended the former VOD female employee, but the 40 NGOs took serious action against him,” the premier underlined.
On that occasion, the premier waited for the action from the Ministry of Women's Affairs and civil society organizations taken against the insults over his sister-in-law and his wife.
Samdech also wanted a review of the funding sources of civil society organizations in Cambodia.
