Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 20 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen raised a question for his foreign friends when they brought up the case of VOD's license revocation.

The premier spoke at the graduation ceremony, held on Monday morning (Feb 20) at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

"Is the accusation against Hun Manet signing an aid agreement to Türkiye on behalf of the premier a freedom of expression or a spread of false information?" the premier underlined.

The VOD media has no hope to resume and the shutdown does not kill the democracy in Cambodia, the premier added.

Samdech continued, "VOD media is a place that produces fake news. I will ask any foreigner if they happen to meet me and bring it up because the world is currently combating fake news.”

On 13 February 2023, Cambodian Ministry of Information announced to revoke the license of the Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM), which is the VOD's broadcast management center.
