Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 12 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that giving 72 hours to VOD to make a public apology is more than enough time, otherwise the media outlet should be shut down.

The premier responded to a Facebook comment of a former VOD employee named "Min Pov".

"VOD is an important source of information and also helps the government to know more about society," Min Pov wrote. “if you suspect a misunderstanding, we should sit at a table and talk first, not set time to apologize.”

"I give 72 hours, and it is more than enough to do the work, including working with the Ministry of Information. That is like sitting down together like what you want,” the premier replied.

Samdech continued, “do you know how to read and understand this content? Or do you want me to issue an order to the Ministry of Information to revoke the license of VOD and stop broadcasting it in the next few hours?”

On 11 February 2023, premier Hun Sen gave 72 hours to the VOD media outlet to publicly apologize for the misleading news saying that Hun Manet signed an agreement to provide assistance to Türkiye on the premier behalf.
