Beijing (FN), Feb. 10 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen presided over the Cambodia-China Tourism Investment and Business Forum, held on Friday afternoon (Feb 10) in Beijing.
President of Cambodia and Phnom Penh Chamber of Commerce tycoon Kith Meng delivered the speech in the forum with the participation of Chinese vice prime minister Hu Chunhua, senior leaders of the two nations, more than 300 businessmen, and investors.
"This forum will contribute to the strengthening the two countries' relations. Additionally, the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce has always cooperated with the Chinese side in promoting business cooperation by hosting more than 100 business events with the Chinese side. The key partners include China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Boao Forum for Asia, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia," tycoon Kith Meng underscored.
The forum was conducted smoothly in a friendly environment. Both sides’ businessmen and investors exchanged experiences and learned about the current economic situation, opportunities, and potential sectors and discussed future cooperation in their respective fields.
Kith Meng also highlighted the good cooperation with the Chinese business community and partners, in which the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce signed more than 30 Memorandum of Understanding and agreements with the Chinese side. In addition, the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce has successfully co-organized major events, including the Boao Forum for Asia in 2018 in Phnom Penh, and a series of business meetings amidst the COVID19 pandemic.
China is one of Cambodia's largest trade and investment partners. In recent years, Cambodia-China trade volume had increased significantly, faster than the target set by the two governments.
Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement entered into force in 2022, which is expected to boost economic and business ties to a new level as well as further promote the well-being of the people and businesses of both countries.
