Phnom Penh (FN), Feb 2 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen recalled spending the national budget for approximately USD 400 million to build schools when he inspected the achievements in provinces in 2016.

The premier spoke in the meeting with Grade A high school students on Thursday morning (Feb 2) in Phnom Penh.

"During my more than 6,000 kilometers journey nationwide, I gave each province a new standard school [...] at that time, the government spent approximately USD 400 million that each school has teachers and students accommodation. Thus, we can build more schools through the national budget and donations," the premier underscored.

The premier mentioned that the war zones like Pailin, Preah Vihear, and Oddar Meanchey provinces were transformed to educational places with new standard.

Lastly, Samdech Techo added that this young generation is so lucky as they were born in a peaceful situation. They have the opportunity to acquire knowledge without any obstacles.

According to the report of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, as of April 2022, Samdech and his spouse donated 4,487 school buildings, which consist of 28,810 rooms.
