Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 25 – French foreign trade minister Olivier Becht expressed his pleasure at the good relations and cooperation between Cambodia and France. He pledged to further enhance this cooperation to support development in the kingdom.
Oliver Becht spoke during a courtesy call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, held on Wednesday morning (Jan 25) at the Peace Palace.
Oliver thanked the premier for rebuilding the friendship monument in honor of both the Cambodians and French who died in World War I. This is a symbol of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
Taking this occasion, the French foreign trade minister stated that the two countries' friendship started from culture, which expanded to other sectors such as education, investment, environment, infrastructure, economy, trade, and agriculture. He also informed Samdech that France is ready to assist and strengthen cooperation with Cambodia in these sectors.
For his part, Samdech expressed his pleasure in the two countries relations and cooperation. In particular, after the bilateral talk with French president Emmanuel Macron in France in December 2022.
Samdech mentioned that the friendship monument was built in 1925 but was destroyed during the Khmer Rouge regime. This is also a symbol of friendship and the achievement of Cambodian-French relations.
Lastly, Samdech Techo thanked the French government and people for always assisting the development of Cambodia.
