Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 19 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen warned to sue the Candlelight Party for issuing a baseless statement, accusing the ruling party of threatening the opposition with the arrest of vice president of the Candlelight Party Thach Setha.
The premier spoke during inspection of construction progress of Techo Santepheap National Hospital, held on Thursday (Jan 19) in Phnom Penh.
Samdech said the arrest of Thach Setha, allegedly charged with embezzlement, was purely law enforcement and not politically motivated.
In response to the Candlelight Party’s baseless statement, Samdech asked the lawyers of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) to study the statement of the Candlelight Party in order to file a lawsuit against the Candlelight Party if the latter does not issue an apology letter.
Samdech pledged zero tolerance for those who insult the CPP.
"From now on there will be no tolerance and no exceptions from the grassroots to the top level if there is an insult against the CPP," the premier warned.
Premier Hun Sen also told foreigners not to interfere in Cambodia’s internal affairs.
