Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 10 – Secretary of state of Cambodia's Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation Nim Thoth in his capacity as deputy director of the Central Adoption Authority of Cambodia and secretary of state of Cambodia's Ministry of Justice Chan Sotheavy, organized a two-day workshop on "Strengthening the Inter-Country Adoption Implementation" held on 10-11 January 2023 at Himawari Hotel, Phnom Penh.
"Today's workshop aims to present the adoption law to the relevant ministries/institutions and the roadmap to prepare for the reopening of the adoption, information sharing to the relevant agencies and authorities, strengthen-expand cooperation with relevant institutions to jointly address challenges," Nim Thoth underlined.
Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, in his capacity as the Central Authority for Inter-country Adoption, with the Inter-country Adoption Administration (ICAA) jointly organized the "Bright Future Project" implemented by CIFA, CIAI, AIBI, and ARIETE received financial assistance from the Italian Commission for Inter-country Adoption Authority.
"The Bright Future Project" has already offered five training courses:
1. Training course on relevant laws and regulations to implement the inter-country adoption in Cambodia;
2. Training course on counseling and childcare regarding child development;
3. Training course on the practical application of the form by international adoption procedures;
4. Training on International Standards on Adoption, unattended children, and post-adoption Services;
5. Training course on the integration of policies, standards, and guidelines for domestic and international adoption procedures for the target groups of the five provinces: Phnom Penh, Kandal, Siem Reap, Battambang, and Sihanoukville.
