Kampong Cham (FN), Jan. 9 – Chinese ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian praised the leadership of Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen and the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) for Cambodia's rapid economic growth, effective control of COVID19, and the Kingdom’s prestige.

His remarks were made when he presided over the groundbreaking for the reconstruction and upgrading of National Road No. 7, held on Monday (Jan 9) in Kampong Cham province.

Through premier Hun Sen’s win-win policy, Cambodia has achieved lasting peace, political stability, rapid economic development, and better living and working environment, Wang said.

The premier’s recent "Distinguished World Leader Lifetime Achievement” award highly reflects the achievement of the premier, the Royal Government led by the CPP, and the Cambodian people, the ambassador added.

Ambassador Wang said that the Cambodian economy has benefited greatly from the rectangular strategy of the Royal Government led by the CPP, maintaining a high growth rate for many years in a row. Despite the impact of COVID19, Cambodia's economic growth rate is expected to reach 5.5 percent by 2022.

Ambassador Wang praised Samdech’s policy to prevent and combat COVID19. Cambodia has achieved the highest rate in vaccination against COVID19 and been the world's leading country in combating COVID19.

The ambassador added, Cambodia's foreign affairs have benefited from the peaceful and independent policy of the Royal Government led by the CPP, and Cambodia's prestige has steadily increased. In the face of the complex regional and international situation in 2022, Cambodia has fulfilled its role as chair of ASEAN in 2022 under the leadership of prime minister Hun Sen. The international community has generally noted that this is the most successful East Asia Cooperation Summit over the past 10 years.

"The CPP-led government has adhered to the policy of friendship with China, in line with the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples," ambassador Wang said.

“Over the years, China has assisted Cambodia in the construction of hydropower stations, power plants, roads, bridges and hospitals, which have truly benefited the Cambodian people.”

On that occasion, the Chinese ambassador also reiterated that there is no development if there is no peace.

The ambassador sincerely wishes Cambodia social stability, economic development and sustainable welfare and prosperity.
