Kampot (FN), Dec. 30 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen expressed his condolences over the death of victims of hotel-casino blaze in Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province.
The premier spoke at the groundbreaking for the reconstruction and upgrading of National Road No. 31 and No. 33, held at Kampot on Friday (Dec 30).
According to report, more than 10 people died and nearly 100 injured in the blaze at the Grand Diamond City Hotel and Casino. The building holds more than 1,000 people and over 500 employees.
Regarding the fire incident, the premier advised experts to equip more firefighting equipment for high-rise buildings in order to respond to such unforeseeable incident on a timely manner.
At the same time, Samdech also thanked Cambodian-Thai authorities for cooperating in the rescue operation.
Premier Hun Sen also instructed the authorities to facilitate the re-opening of the Poipet border gate.
