Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 19 – South Korean company ECOCAM is seeking an investment in converting waste management to energy in Cambodia.

The outgoing South Korean ambassador to Cambodia Park Heung-kyeong spoke during a farewell call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, held on Monday afternoon (Dec 19) at the Peace Palace.

The premier expressed his full support for the investment in waste management projects. Samdech also advised the company to cooperate with the Cambodian delegate minister and a secretary general of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) Sok Chenda Sophea, Cambodian minister of mines and energy Suy Sem, and the Phnom Penh Capital Administration.

This project is seen to make a significant contribution to the Cambodian environment, in particular the conversion of waste management that benefits economically and environmentally.

Based on the report of Cambodia's Ministry of Environment, Cambodia generates nearly 4 million tons of garbage a year, which is more than 10,000 tons per day nationwide.
