Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 18 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen expressed his support for CP's intention to produce clean energy in the kingdom and urged them to work with relevant ministries and institutions to achieve this goal.

The premier spoke during a courtesy call by senior chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) Dhanin Chearavanont, held on 17 December 2022 at the Peace Palace.

Taking this occasion, Dhanin praised the wise leadership of premier Hun Sen for the kingdom’s prosperity in all sectors, adding that the premier has built trust among investors in the country.

Dhanin said that he and the company fully support the leadership of the premier and also the future Cambodian prime minister candidate Hun Manet.

In addition, the senior chairman of CP Group also briefed Samdech the goals of his company and Soma Group on clean energy production, aiming to help Cambodia reaches the goal of carbon neutrality and energy security. CP Group will seek hydropower and clean energy project opportunities in Cambodia.

Regarding the agro-food business, CP Group pledged to improve the value of the animal feed, farm, and food sectors in the kingdom by sharing technical skills and creating jobs for citizens. In this regard, the company focuses on improving crop genetics to increase the yield of rice, corn, and soybeans and processing these crops into high-value consumer food products to meet international standards for food quality, safety, and hygiene.

For his part, Samdech praised the investment direction of CP Group and Soma Group on clean energy production in Cambodia. Samdech asked the two companies to work with relevant institutions to conduct the feasibility of clean energy production in Cambodia for fruitful outcomes.
