Belgium (FN), Dec. 13 – In a meeting with about 2,000 Cambodians residing in Europe on 12 December 2022, premier Hun Sen said that during the COVID19 crisis, online learning was also a new opportunity for Cambodia. In this global disease crisis, the digital system in the kingdom’s education is developing 10 years ahead of plan.
"Our concern at that time was that the school was closed whereas nearly four million students shifted to remote study. However, such action provides the kingdom the new opportunity. Like people says, out of crises can emerge new opportunities. COVID19 crisis continues to drive the growth of information technology in Cambodia. Digital sector can develop faster, fast forwarding three years, while the Ministry of Education says 10 years ahead of plan,” the premier underscored.
During the meeting, Samdech told Cambodian people living abroad, especially in developed countries, to keep up with the rapid development of the digital system in the kingdom. For instance, the payment for the expressway is moving towards e-pay.
The premier also recalled the lockdowns of schools and markets to prevent serious infection during the outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic.
As for the education sector, due to this measures, all students have to study remotely. Although such measure is a bit difficult at the beginning, students later adapted to using the digital system and had the opportunity to pursue their education during that time.
