Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the kingdom will have a Toyota Assembly Plant in Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (SEZ), speaking at the 11th anniversary of Minebea establishment in the kingdom, held on Thursday morning (Dec 1).
“So far, the SEZ has not only sustained the existing companies but also attracted more companies. Currently, the kingdom has two car assembly plants namely Hyundai Assembly Plant in Koh Kong and Ford Assembly Plant in Pursat. In the near future, we will have Toyota Assembly Assembly Plant in Phnom Penh,” the premier said.
Toyota has invested in setting up an assembly plant in Cambodia with an investment of USD 36.7 million. The project was announced by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) on 8 September 2022.
Toyota assembly plant is located in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone owned by tycoon Kith Meng.
