Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 29 – Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni issued a royal decree to appoint the former president of the Grassroot Democratic Party (GDP) Yang Saing Koma as a delegate minister and secretary of state for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) while deputy secretary general and spokesman of the GDP Lek Sothear appointed as undersecretary of state for MAFF, according to the royal decree seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Nov 29).

0n 23 November 2022, Yang Saing Koma and Lek Sothear announced their defection and requested to join the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) to develop the agricultural sector in particular rice.

On 28 November 2022, the two former senior leaders of GDP and the Cambodian minister of agriculture Dith Tina paid a courtesy call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen.

"In general, we share the same vision regarding challenges and solutions in the agricultural sector in Cambodia, and we can work together,” Koma wrote on his Facebook.
