Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 22 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen expressed his deep gratitude to the US for being a leading country in returning plundered Cambodian artifacts, speaking during the closing ceremony of the 30th Anniversary of the National Convention on Mine Action in Cambodia held on Tuesday morning (Nov 22).

"I would like to thank the US. We have to accept the truth that the US is a leading country in returning plundered Cambodian artifact back to the kingdom” the premier underscored.

“The US government including the US Embassy in Phnom Penh and the US State Department have excellent cooperation in returning the artifacts,” the premier continued.

According to a report by the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, in the last five years, 258 artifacts have been returned to Cambodia after being lost during the wars. Of these 258, 33 were from the US, 71 from Japan, 110 from Hungary, 16 from the United Kingdom and 28 from Thailand.
