Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that sports play a crucial role in building relations, solidarity, and friendship.

The premier spoke at the opening ceremony of the 3rd National Games and 1st National Para Games, held on Monday (Nov 21) in Phnom Penh.

"Sports play a crucial role in building relationships, strengthening solidarity and friendship, which contribute to increasing social capital and social harmony. In addition, sports offer an opportunity to exchange techniques and experiences of the national cultural heritages and martial arts of each country, as well as bring prestige to the international stage," the premier underscored.

The premier stated that without peace, there are no sports and other sectors such as human rights and democracy. Samdech called on citizens to maintain peace at all costs.

In 2023, the kingdom hosts the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, which are known as another historical event after 64 years of waiting.
