Sihanoukville (FN), Nov. 19 – On 18 November 2022, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force vessel docked at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port to further develop the relationship between the two countries in the field of defense cooperation.
Sihanoukville provincial governor Kouch Chamroeun and deputy chief of staff of Ream Naval Base In Sokhemra warmly welcomed the
“DD-102 JS Harusame ” of the 42th Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement visited Cambodia and made a port call at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port from 18 to 20 November 2022.
'DD-102 JS Harusame" was led by the Japanese commander of the Escort Division 2, captain Kudo Masanori. The technical specifications of the ship are 151 meters long, 17.4 meters wide, and 5.2 meters deep, with a payload of 4,550 tons and a total crew of 205, led by Japanese commander Ban Masayuki.
This year marks the 30th anniversary for Japan to dispatch its first ever Japanese peacekeeping operations (PKO) mission to Cambodia and next year (2023) will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Cambodia.
