Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen met with Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau in Phnom Penh on 12 November 2022.

During the meeting, Justin Trudeau thanked the premier for receiving and inviting him to attend the ASEAN Summit in Cambodia and highly appreciated the measures taken by Samdech on Russia's aggression against Ukraine as well as measures to bring Myanmar back to normalcy.

Trudeau emphasized that Canada and ASEAN, including Cambodia, have great potential for cooperation in many fields. Canada-Cambodia bilateral relations is at the center of long-term cooperation, especially in trade, diplomacy, education, climate change and more, he added.

Samdech welcomed the cooperation within both the ASEAN-Canada framework and the bilateral framework. On that occasion, Samdech also informed Trudeau the cooperation between Cambodia and Japan in assisting Ukraine in demining.
