Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 11 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen and the chair of ASEAN in 2022, said that the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits with partners will adopt and note a long list of over 100 outcome documents to guide actions and cooperation for the coming years.
The premier spoke at the opening ceremony of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, held on Friday morning (Nov 11) in Phnom Penh.
“As 2022 draws to a close, the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related ASEAN Summits with our partners shall be instrumental in realizing ASEAN’s 2022 key deliverables and priorities and mapping out our future cooperation directions. During these meetings, we will adopt and note a long list of over 100 outcome documents to guide our actions and cooperation for the coming years,” the premier underscored.
The day after tomorrow, Cambodia will host the 2nd ASEAN Global Dialogue to share in-depth view and discuss the way forward towards inclusive economic recovery and building resilient and sustainable ASEAN in the post-COVID19 era. The premier hoped all leaders could join us to hear the views from esteemed leaders of ASEAN and some ASEAN partners, as well as insights from global and regional institutions on how the region could weather the challenges and build a resilient Community for all.
“As we move on forward, let us not forget our past and values that have been built upon and stood for. I believe that not often mentioned, but our Motto «ASEAN: One Vision, One Identity, One Community» still holds true to its values today,” the premier continued.
Let us focus on the common goal of mutual development for peace, stability and the betterment of the region. Our relationships here are not created by chance, but through years of hard work, commitment and perseverance. We must treasure and be grateful of what we have built, and therefore, maintaining our unity, solidarity and centrality is of utmost priority in order for our region to sustain and be resilient for what is to come.
