Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 20 – Timorese president José Manuel Ramos Horta thanked Cambodia for supporting Timor-Leste's ASEAN membership.

Timorese president spoke in a courtesy call on Cambodian president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin, held on Thursday afternoon (Oct 20) at the National Assembly.

Timorese president José Manuel Ramos Horta lauded for the kingdom rapid development. He expressed his gratitude for the kingdom's support on Timor-Leste's ASEAN membership in 2022.

Timorese president pledged to foster the two countries relations and cooperation in all sectors. Cambodia-Timor will have direct flights in the near future.

For his part, Cambodian president of the National Assembly vowed to support Timor-Leste to become the 11th ASEAN member and  the member of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

Lastly, Heng Samrin said that it is important to maintain the friendly relations and bilateral cooperation under the ASEAN framework to curb with the global challenges.

The state visit of José Manuel Ramos Horta to Cambodia will further strengthen and deepen the relations  and cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks for mutual benefits of the two countries.
