Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 20 – ASEAN energy ministers from all ten member states and global energy leaders convened at the ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF), a platform for ASEAN policymakers to showcase energy framework aspirations and discuss strategic partnerships to realize energy transition goals.
Organized by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Kingdom of Cambodia, AEBF 2022 was held as a two-day conference and exhibition from 14-15 September with the theme “Accelerating Energy Transition: Economic Recovery and Sustainable Growth”. It was held in hybrid form, in conjunction with the 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM).
As one of the gold sponsor of the summit, Huawei Digital Power take part in contributing thought and innovative solution regarding on the renewable energy and energy efficiency throughout the event. By integrating digital and power electronics technologies, and combining information flows and energy flows, Huawei Digital Power is digitalizing the energy systems with its products and management platforms.
During the Summit, Worawat Nakawiro, PV & ESS specialist at Huawei Asia Pacific Smart PV Business delivered an address, stating that, “Carbon neutrality commitments are triggering a global energy revolution and accelerating the decarbonisation of industries.” On behalf of the organization, he shared the strategy overview of Huawei Digital Power, and focusing on the mission on carbon neutrality and green development. As one of the leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, Huawei demonstrates lots of case studies all around the world. Huawei innovative solution cover all aspect scenario, from solar farm, commercial and industrial solar, residential and extreme scenario like off-grid and floating solar. Worawat firmly believed that by enabling the usage of digitalization and AI, it would lead to a greener and better future.
Besides, Edward Hua, vice president from Huawei Technologies (Cambodia) Co.,Ltd was also invited to share his though to the topic “Taking Solar Energy to the Next Level: Building Solar Capacity in ASEAN” via the form of panel discussion, along with Renewable Energy Leaders all around the world. During the panel discussion, Edward had shared his though on the latest innovation on solar technologies – Smart PV controller (inverter) which plays the major role in the safety and efficiency of the whole solar system. Smart features from the inverters, like Arc Fault Circuit Detection (AFCI), smart string level disconnector (SSLD), Rapid Shutdown (RSD), Smart IV Curve and more give an extra protection and safety security to the user and to ensure a better grid connection to the countries. Moreover, he also shared his though particular environmental and land issue in Southeast Asia. By emphasizing on the innovation and creative solution like floating solar and agriculture synchronize with solar, it would help to maximize the land value, at the same time, the deployment of photovoltaics can reduce the exposure of sunlight to aquaculture waters and alleviate the problem of water quality deterioration.
The AEBF conference focused on the topics of ASEAN’s energy transition roadmap, decarbonisation pathways, and the roles of gas/LNG and renewables. At the end of day one, there was a roundtable session on the study and implementation of the ASEAN Power Grid. The sharing from leaders and experts in the field played an important role in enhancing industry collaboration and accelerating energy transition in ASEAN.
