Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 18 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, in his capacity as the president of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), told a senior official of the Communist Party of Viet Nam that enhancing cooperation of the Cambodia-Viet Nam border provinces is a top priority, particularly security issues, flow of goods, trade facilitation and combating illegal activities such as drug and human trafficking.
The premier spoke during a courtesy call from Vo Van Thuong, politburo member of Communist Party of Viet Nam and permanent member of the Party Committee’s Secretariat, held on Tuesday morning (Oct 18) at the CPP headquarters.
Vo Van Thuong conveyed message from the Vietnamese top leaders to premier Hun Sen and praised the kingdom’s rapid development. His visit to the kingdom is in line with the 55th anniversary of the Cambodia-Viet Nam diplomatic ties and the 45th anniversary of the overthrow of the Pol Pot genocidal regime. He aimed to strengthen and expand the relationship between both parties and nations.
The Vietnamese side raised a number of priority issues, which require attentions from the two parties, such as deepening the relationship between the parties, boosting the exchange of visits between the two countries’ party leaders, promoting the relationship between Cambodia-Viet Nam provinces and capitals, enhancing the cooperation in the field of defense and security, strengthening the cooperation in investment and trade, and fostering cooperation in regional and global frameworks.
For his part, Samdech agreed with the requests from the Vietnamese counterpart.
