Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 11 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen recalled the legal case of the rector of the Phnom Penh International University (PPIU) Tep Kolap 10 years ago, saying that he had borrowed about USD 3 million to save her from being sued and jailed by a powerful tycoon.
The premier spoke at the graduation ceremony of over 2,000 students of Phnom Penh International University (PPIU), held on Tuesday (Oct 11) at OCIC, Phnom Penh’s Chroy Chongvar district.
Premier Hun Sen considered that the case was unfair, and without his intervention, the PPIU would have collapsed since then.
Heng Chheang, former CEO of Anco Brothers Co, LTD, and his wife, Tep Kolap, were sued by Anco Brothers Co, LTD owned by Kok An until their arrest in 2011 on charges of fraud for more than USD 58 million.
