Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 4 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen shared four recommendations to promote sports and be well-prepared to host upcoming SEA Games 2023 successfully.
The premier spoke at the 41st General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, held on Tuesday (Oct 4) at Sokha Phnom Penh.
“I would like to share four recommendations as follow:
First, I would like to encourage discussions and share good practices in this General Assembly regarding the organization of management and development of major sports events and sports techniques in order to make the sports better in Asia region.
Second, I would like to urge OCA to diversify sports activities in member countries to promote sports in Asia and increase the integration of sports to the economy, in particular sports tourism, a green tourism to strengthen friendship and solidarity that contributes to sustainable peace in the region.
Third, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, in particular The Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC), shall increase technical cooperation and exchange experiences with the OCA, the National Olympic Committee of the member countries, the Council of SEA Games, the Council of ASEAN Para Sports Federation and international sports institutions to train and build technical capacity to Cambodian athletes. Therefore, Cambodian athletes can attend international events in the future.
Fourth, I would like to call on the member countries of the OCA to provide assistance in any circumstances for Cambodia to successfully host SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games 2022 in the kingdom.
