Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 9 – The Royal Government of Cambodia praised Siem Reap provincial authorities and the working group of Ministry of Interior for jointly resolving peacefully and non-violently the gathering activists of the League for Democracy Party (LDP) at the Kulen mountain.

The statement was made at the cabinet meeting chaired by Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, held Friday at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh.

LDP leader Khem Veasna has been spreading superstitious propaganda to his supporters that at the end of August 2022 or soon, there will be floods all over the world, including Cambodia. Only at Kulen Mountain [where his land locates] is a safe place to settle. As a result, his supporters who are working and living in Cambodia, South Korea, Japan and Thailand decided to quit their jobs and pack to settle at Veasna’s land near Kulen Mountain, Siem Reap province.

On 31 August 2022, Siem Reap authorities decided to put Khem Veasna’s land on lockdown, so Veasna’s supporters are no longer allowed to enter, but to leave.
