Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 2 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia-Viet Nam good relations have contributed to the mutual benefits of the two nations for 55 years, adding that the two nations’ solidarity is inseparable.
The premier spoke during a courtesy call by the member of the central committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Thi Thanh on Tuesday (Aug 2) at the Peace Palace Phnom Penh.
Nguyen Thi Thanh thanked the premier for allowing her and her delegation to pay a courtesy call. She highly praised the kingdom’s progress and rapid development under the wise leadership of the premier as well as the effective control on COVID19 and socio-economic recovery.
On this occasion, Nguyen Thi Thanh congratulated the 55th anniversary of the Cambodia-Viet Nam diplomatic ties and the 45th anniversary of the overthrow of the Pol Pot genocidal regime.
Regarding the cooperation of friendship association, Nguyen Thi Thanh informed the premier that the two associations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand the activities and enhance relations, in particular between people and people. She also congratulated Cambodia as the rotating chair of ASEAN.
In response, premier Hun Sen warmly welcomed Nguyen Thi Thanh and the delegations. The premier underscored that Cambodia-Viet Nam have worked together on many frameworks, including the government framework, parliamentary framework and public organization framework, which play a significant role in expanding the two countries’ people-to-people relations.
Samdech also congratulated Nguyen Thi Thanh for being elected as the president of Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Association. Importantly, the two countries shall further maintain good relations in foreign policy, friendship and solidarity.
The premier also highly praised Viet Nam's progress, which also brings benefits to the kingdom. Due to good relations, the kingdom has received many Vietnamese investors in all sectors.
Viet Nam is an important export partner, as the trade volume reached more than USD 10 billion. Samdech requested the friendship association to further help poor Cambodian’s patients to get medical treatment in Viet Nam.
Lastly, the premier applauded Viet Nam’s effective control on COVID19 and the contribution to peaceful border, cooperation and development on key sectors such as tourism, education, culture, and people-to-people travel.
