Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 14 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the Russia-Ukraine war and sanctions created a precarious situation, which can lead to global economic crisis.
The premier spoke at the Ministry of Tourism’s annual meeting at Sokha Hotel Phnom Penh, held on Thursday (Jul 14).
The premier said that COVID19 pandemic affected many sectors. Tourism, industry, agriculture and services were seriously affected.
"Currently, new problem has occurred, which might further affect tourism sector. It started from war and sanctions, which created a precarious situation and order," the premier underlined.
Samdech added that sanctions also created global market turmoil. There are many red alerts from the IMF regarding the economic crisis. Global economic growth may continue to decline while inflation may increase.
Samdech continued, “If oil prices continue to hike, tourism sector could face difficulties as the price of air ticket could double.”
