Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 7 – As the rotating chair of ASEAN, Cambodia has requested Myanmar to send a non-political representative to attend the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and Related Meetings, which will be held at the end of July 2022.

Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn spoke in the press conference on 6 July 2022 after he successfully concluded his second working visit.

"I sent an invitation letter to the Myanmar’s foreign minister, but I explained to him that due to the current situation, he could not attend. Also, such decision was made out of regret. Instead, I asked him to send a non-political representative to attend the 55th AMM," Prak Sokhonn said.

The 55th AMM and Related Meetings will take place from 31 July to 6 August 2022 in Phnom Penh.
