Banteay Meanchey (FN), Jul. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that in June 2022, Cambodia received nearly USD 500 million in tax and customs revenues in line with the increase of domestic demand and imports, speaking on the 18th National Fish Day, held on Friday (Jul 1) in Banteay Meanchey province.

"The kingdom’s revenue is starting to increase. In the full month of June, our revenues from customs and tax rose to nearly USD 500 million," the premier underlined.

However, the premier pointed out that this revenue is still low compared to pre-COVID19 period, which was between USD 500 to USD 700 million monthly.

During COVID19 outbreak in 2020, Cambodian economic growth rate shrunk from 7 percent in 2019 to minus 2.1 percent, which was known as a terrible decline.

The World Bank has projected that the Cambodian economy will grow by 4.5 percent in 2022, 5.8 percent by 2023 and 6.6 percent by 2024.
