Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 11 – Cambodian government decided to re-open Siem Reap and other provinces bordering Thailand, according to the government announcement seen by Fresh News on Wednesday.
“Siem Reap province and the provinces along Khmer-Thai border will re-open on 13 August 2021. However, the government extends restriction measures nationwide to curb COVID19 for seven days more, effective until 19 August 2021.”
On 28 July 2021, the government announced two-week lockdowns in all provinces bordering Thailand, including Koh Kong, Pursat, Battambang, Pailin, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear and Siem Reap in a bid to prevent the spread of Delta variant. The lockdowns lasted from 29 July midnight through 12 August 2021.
As of 11 August, Cambodia has detected 429 cases of Delta variant.
