Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 26 – The Government of Japan has provided an additional USD 3.3 million to the Royal Government of Cambodia for the purpose of the implementation of the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship in 2021.
The signing of the exchange notes and related documents was presided by Cambodian foreign affairs minister Prak Sokhonn and Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro on Monday at the Ministry.
Cambodian minister stressed that for more than 20 years, the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship or JDS has provided scholarships to about 500 Cambodian officials, including 24 from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Japan has also provided scholarship programs and other short training courses to develop qualified and active human resources for the kingdom’s economic development.
Japan's continuous assistance to Cambodia during the COVID19 outbreak reflected the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. On top of the vaccine donation, Japan has also rendered its support for the Royal Government of Cambodia's response against COVID19 pandemic through a grant aid of over USD 50 million and around USD 230 million in loans.
