Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 23 – Premier Hun Sen announced that Cambodia must find vaccines for her people at all costs, speaking at the handover ceremony of the first batch of 332,000 doses of Japan-aided AstraZeneca at Phnom Penh International Airport on Friday.
Cambodia has secured over 18 million doses of COVID19 vaccines and has vaccinated over 6.4 million people, an equivalent to 64 percent completion of vaccination campaign.
At least 70 percent of Cambodian people will get vaccinated by November 2021.
Premier Hun Sen also slammed critics’ statement which said vaccines might be the only legacy of "Hun Sen".
“Vaccine is not the only legacy of Hun Sen. Hun Sen has saved many lives from being massacred, pointing to 7 January 1979. Hun Sen has brought peace and development as seen today,” he added.
He also underlined that the right to life shall be the top priority.
"The right to life is the top priority that shall be granted to the people, not the right to freedom of expression or democracy. Therefore, Cambodian law is created to protect human life. What I have been doing is protecting my people's lives," the premier underlined.
