Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 24 – Prach Chan, former chairman of the First Commission of the National Assembly, has been elected as chairman of the National Election Committee (NEC) on Thursday.
This election was held in the 6th National Assembly plenary session on Thursday presided over by president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin with a participation of 82 members.
Prach Chan was nominated by the ruling party in accordance with the Law on the Organization and Functioning of the National Election Committee. He was sworn in after receiving a vote of confidence from the National Assembly.
The selection of a new NEC chairman came about after former NEC chairman Sik Bun Hok resigned from the post due to health issues.
