Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 6 – H.E. Prak Sokhonn - Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, led a senior government delegation to Chongqing, a central city in western China, have boarded a special Cambodia Airways flight again at Phnom Penh International Airport on 6th June, 2021.

The representatives of the management team and staff of Cambodia Airways warmly welcomed the distinguished passengers at the airport, with the high-level delegation set to attend the ASEAN-China Special Foreign Ministers' Meeting, and the 6th Mekong-Lanchang Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

It means a lot to the airlines because this is the first time that Cambodia Airways carries a high-level government delegation to China, as well as the second time the airline has provided a special flight for H.E. Prak Sokhonn and his delegation after flying the exalted passengers to the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, for the ASEAN Leaders Meeting in April this year. Having been entrusted by the government with such an important role on a second occasion, Cambodia Airways immediately began the preparations and held several special meetings to discuss the flight schedule as well as the procedures in detail in order to ensure the smooth operation of the flight.

The special flight took off from Phnom Penh International Airport at 14:00pm and landed smoothly at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at the scheduled local time 18:10pm.

Cambodia and China are close neighbors and have traditional long-standing friendship. The two countries have extensive and in-depth cooperation in the fields of politic, economy, trade, investment, tourism and culture, etc. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen visited China in February 2020. In response to the call of the Prime Minister, Cambodia Airways did not stop all China routes, but continued to provide free air transportation services for medical supplies donated to China, in order to take the required actions in practice to fully support the Prime Minister’s visit. During the pandemic, Cambodia Airways donated a total of 150,000 disposable surgical masks and transported more than 15 tons of various medical donations to China on own expenses.

At present, Cambodia Airways is operating regular passenger flights between Phnom Penh and Chengdu, China, and regular cargo flights between Phnom Penh and Shenzhen, China. The company will launch more new routes between Cambodia and China as well as the routes between China and ASEAN countries to bridge up these cities, and at the same time, to contribute to the recovery of economy in the regional.
