Phnom Penh (FN), May 27 – The Asian Vision Institute (AVI) will host the training program for Cambodian journalists on the topic of geopolitics and foreign policy analysis.

Prominent scholars in the field of geopolitical and foreign policy analysis will be invited to be trainers in this program. The training will be conducted virtually via Zoom every Tuesday from 01st June to 03rd August 2021. Each session lasts for one and a half hour. In total, there would be 20 sessions for the duration of ten weeks.

The launching event of the training program will be held on Monday, 31 May 2021.

The first batch of 33 outstanding journalists and media professionals have been meticulously shortlisted and selected from diverse backgrounds and organizations to participate in the training. They are from Union of Journalist Federations of Cambodia (UJCC), Club of Cambodian Journalists, Overseas Press Club of Cambodia (OPCC), Cambodian Journalists Alliance (CamboJA), Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM).

The objectives of the training program are to equip Cambodian journalists with necessary knowledge of geopolitics and foreign policy at national, regional and international levels; to build the capacity of Cambodian journalists who could deliver the news in an honest and balanced manner; and to enable the journalists to communicate their knowledge in this field with other actors from the government, private sector, and civil society at large.

The Training Program for Cambodian Journalists on Geopolitics and Foreign Policy Analysis is coordinated by Mekong Centre for Strategic Studies (MCSS). MCSS is widely known for its geopolitical and geo-economic analysis with a focus on the Mekong region, Cambodia’s foreign policy, great power politics, small states’ diplomacy, human security, and ASEAN.
