Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 24 — Ministry of Health of Cambodia on Wednesday denied a fake news reported by Angkor Times spread on WeChat, saying “Cambodia sells China-aided COVID19 vaccines at a high price”.

Ministry Spokesperson Or Vandine confirmed to Fresh News on Wednesday that the China-aided vaccines have been provided to the prioritized groups listed by the government with free of charge.

“Cambodian people are vaccinated with free of charge. We do not have vaccines for sale at the price of USD 120 as accused. The number of our vaccines is limited and is only provided to prioritized people,” Vandine stated.

China has provided 1 million doses to Cambodian government. The first phase of 600,000 doses arrived in Cambodia on 7 February 2021.

As of 23 February, the Ministry of Health has vaccinated 7,770 people, of which 2,583 are female. For the armed forces, the Ministry of National Defense has vaccinated 36,735 personnel, 3,183 are female.

To date, Cambodia has confirmed 633 cases of COVID19 with 476 recoveries and no death.
