Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 19 – Ambassador Liurka Rodríguez met with H.E. Suos Yara, Cambodian People's Party's vice-chairman of Commission for External Relations on Friday in Phnom Penh.

The ambassador raised about the upcoming holding in Havana of the VIII Cuban Party Congress, which will focus on the update of the Conceptualization of the Cuban Economic and Social Model of Socialist Development, the results achieved and the updating of the implementation of the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy.

In response, H.E Suos Yara highlighted the close friendship and cooperation between both nations. He highly commended the Cuba's progressive development of COVID19 vaccines.

Cambodia and Cuba have shared historical relations with the focus on medical brigades, and the training of human resources. Collaboration in education between the island and the kingdom has been one of the pillars of diplomatic ties for 60 years. More than two hundred Cambodians have studied in Cuba in the field of medical specialties, engineering, agronomy, and languages.
