Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 7 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that although Cambodia has successfully prevented a large-scale COVID19 outbreak and community transmission, COVID19 vaccine is still crucial for the Kingdom.

His statement was made Sunday at the handover ceremony of Sinopharm vaccines from China to Cambodia at Phnom Penh International Airport.

The premier underlined that Chinese-made COVID19 vaccine conveyed another important new testament to the “ironclad” ties as well as strong cooperation between the two countries.

“We are well aware that vaccines are a strategic prerequisite for Cambodia in fighting against COVID19,” said Prime Minister Hun Sen.

COVID19 vaccine is a key solution in protecting people's lives, improving public health, and ensuring the full recovery of socio-economic activities.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Health announced that the Sinopharm vaccine is only effective for people aged 18 to 59.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that the Royal Government of Cambodia has prepared 20 million doses of COVID19 vaccines for 10 million Cambodian people for free of charge.
