Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that the Royal Government of Cambodia will consider purchasing COVID19 from other countries apart from China, speaking at the inauguration of the new building of Ministry of Public Works and Transport" and “Techo Public Works and Transport Institute” on Friday morning.
“Cambodia will not only buy vaccines from China, but also considers vaccines from the US, UK, India, and South Korea,” the premier said.
Cambodia’s COVID19 cases rise sharply. When the vaccines have been widely used and sold, the Kingdom shall not further wait for approvals from the WHO, Premier Hun Sen said.
The Chinese government already announced to provide 1 million doses of COVID19 vaccines. For the first phase, China will deliver 300,000 doses to Cambodia in February.
Prime Minister Hun Sen expects that 500,000 Cambodian people will be vaccinated before Khmer New Year in April 2021.
Cambodia’s COVID19 cases rise sharply as the cluster of Cambodia’s migrant worker returning from Thailand climbed to 81 positive cases. To date, Cambodia has confirmed 456 cases of COVID19 with 399 recoveries and no death.
