Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen confirmed that the Chinese-aided Sinopharm vaccines will arrive in Cambodia in February, addressing at the inauguration of "Techo Sen Public Works and Transport" building on Friday morning.
The premier added that he will be the first in the Kingdom to be vaccinated, followed by other top leaders.
"The Sinopharm vaccines will arrive this February, and I will be at the Phnom Penh International Airport to welcome the vaccines when they arrive, for we consider vaccine the [strategic commodity],” the premier said.
“I will be the first to be vaccinated and then hold a press conference at the Calmette Hospital,” he added.
Premier Hun Sen said Cambodia will use both Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines. Apart from China’s vaccines, he said the government also considers buying vaccines from the US, UK, and South Korea.
Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Or Vandine said first, China will deliver 300,000 doses of COVID19 vaccines to Cambodia in February.
It is worth noting that the Chinese government announced to provide 1 million doses of COVID19 vaccines to inoculate 500,000 people.
To date, Cambodia has confirmed 456 cases of COVID19 with 399 recoveries and no death.
