Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the two bridges connecting Koh Pich to Koh Norea and Koh Norea to National Road 1 is the national achievement, addressing Monday at the groundbreaking ceremony of the two bridges.
Built by Overseas Cambodia Investment Corp (OCIC), the bridges connecting Phnom Penh’s Koh Pich to Koh Norea development area in the capital’s Chbar Ampov district will contribute significantly to reducing traffic congestion on National Road 1, especially at Preah Monivong Bridge.
"I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the efforts of the Phnom Penh Municipal Authority to facilitate the construction of this bridge and this is a national achievement [...]," stated the premier.
President of the OCIC Pong Khiev Se said Koh Norea development project will benefit Cambodia economy, especially in the current circumstances where Cambodia is in need of more investment to sustain strong economic activities. Koh Norea project can accommodate 50,000 people with a total budget of USD 2.5 billion.
He added that the two bridges include a 60-meter bridge connecting from Koh Pich to Koh Norea, built at a cost USD 1.6 million; and a 824-meter bridge connecting Koh Norea to National Road 1 with a total cost of approximately USD 38 million.
