Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 12 – Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi has departed Phnom Penh at 2:30 p.m Monday following the fruitful official visit to Cambodia on 11-12 October 2020.

Landed in Phnom Penh on Monday evening, Minister Wang Yi met with Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong, Co-chair of Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Building Cambodia-China Community of Shared Future.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi held an official meeting with Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhonn to discuss various fields of bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international issues of common interest and concerns.

He paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen at Peace Palace, where both sides presided over the signing ceremony of four documents, namely (1) Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement; (2) Agreement on China Financing USD 140 million Grant Aids to Cambodia; (3) the Exchange of Note for the Feasibility Study on the Project of Improvement of Sihanoukville Provincial Referral Hospital; and (4) the Exchange of Note for the Feasibility Study on the Project of the Municipal Sewerage System Development Project in Sihanoukville.

The official visit of Minister Wang Yi to Cambodia will further strengthen the long-lasting relations of traditional friendship, solidarity, fraternity and fruitful cooperation between Cambodia and China in light of the unprecedented global challenges of the COVID19 pandemic.

Cambodia is the first destination of Minster Wang Yi’s tour to Southeast Asia. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying announced Friday that Wang Yi will pay official visits to Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, and Thailand, and pay a transit visit to Singapore from 11-15 October 2020.
