Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 8 – Dr. Cheunboran Chanborey, AVI Program Director, argues that the EU’s partial withdrawal of EBA will add further strain on Cambodian economy, which has already been jeopardised by the COVID19 pandemic. Therefore, the EU's decision is both immoral and unjust to Cambodian people, especially to female garment workers.
He also highlights the hypocrisy in the EU’s handling of its trade relations with Southeast Asian countries.
Dr. Chanborey urges Cambodia and the EU to move on and focus on the advancement of their shared global agenda, including multilateralism, climate change and sustainable development, and women empowerment.
