Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 22 – The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) will inaugurate the new headquarter in Phnom Penh’s Chamkarmon district on 28 June 2020.

Speaking on Monday during his visit to the construction site of the new international airport in Kandal province, Premier Hun Sen said the new headquarter is built with a cost of USD 30 million, funded by voluntary contributions from CPP members nationwide.

“CPP is made of people from all walks of life, ranging from workers to farmers to business people to tycoons, so it is not a challenge to fundraise USD 30 million to build this headquarter,” he said.

“June 28, we will hold religious ceremony to inaugurate the CPP headquarter. It is supposed to be on 26 but we have ASEAN meetings both in the morning and afternoon. After all, 28 June is on Sunday, a Sīla day, and the birthday of our party,” the premier said.

The Cambodian People's Party was founded on 28 June 1951. Under the leadership of the CPP, Cambodia has been transformed from a war-torn country to a lower-middle-income economy in 2016 and is on her way to become a higher-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.
