Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 24 – Cambodian Interior Minister Sar Kheng said that about 15,000 Cambodian workers have returned from Thailand after learning that the host country announced to close borders.
Cambodian workers have not passed medical examinations when they returned, Minister Kheng said Tuesday morning in a meeting with immigration police officers at Phnom Penh International Airport.
“When they [workers] arrived Cambodia, it is obvious that it is beyond our abilities to monitor their health or put them in quarantine for 14 days. All we can do is to mark the location they will be settle in and let the provincial authorities take further measures,” the minister said.
Sar Kheng also warned of village lockdown to fight Covid-19. If the household has one person infected, all the members of the household will be quarantined and if several villagers got infected, we may lockdown the whole village.
