Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 15 – The US President Donald Trump thanked Cambodia for allowing the Westerdam ship to dock in Cambodia’s Sihanoukville Port.
“Thank you to the beautiful country of Cambodia for accepting the @CarnivalCruise ship Westerdam into your port. The United States will remember your courtesy,” President Trump tweeted on 15 February 2020.
Westerdam cruise, with 1,455 passengers and 802 crew on board, docked in Cambodia’s Sihanoukville port at 7 a.m on 13 February local time after she was refused entries to six countries due to fearing of Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
On 14 February at the Sihanoukville port, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen addressed to the world that it is not a time of fear and discrimination amid Covid-19 outbreak, but a time of joint collaboration to solve global challenges.
Premier Hun Sen greeted the passengers of Westerdam cruise; shook their hands; and presented bouquets of roses to them.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen told Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha in a special interview on earlier that the motive of accepting Westerdam is to eliminate fear and discrimination.
