Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 9 – His Excellency Bounnhang Vorachith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic met with Cambodian President of Senate Samdech Say Chhum on Sunday afternoon at the Senate, Phnom Penh.

His Excellency expressed his profound thanks to the President of the Senate for the warm hospitality and conveyed a warm greeting from the President of the National Assembly of Lao PDR to Samdech Say Chhum.

His Excellency added that the bilateral relations and cooperation of the two countries were made through exchanged visits and cooperation in many fields, especially in education, culture, defense, public security, as well as border issues. He urged for frequent exchanges of visits between the two countries.

Lao President recalled that Laos and Cambodia have a long history of fruitful cooperation. The two countries are striving for a better living for their people as they have jointly maintained the border security, as well as combating illegal drug and human trafficking.

Samdech Say Chhum congratulated the result on the border demarcation, which has completed about 86 percent. This accomplishment indicates the efforts to resolve border issues and to transform the border into zones of peace and prosperity.

Cambodian side also praised the great achievement under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
