Sihanoukville (FN), Nov. 16 – Head of the Royal Government Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that he recognizes the decrease of tourists visiting Siem Reap province, yet number of tourists nationwide grows.

The statement was made at the inauguration of road construction in the kingdom’s coastal province Sihanoukville on 16 November 2019.

“The tourism report I received last night shows that the number of tourists visiting Siem Reap declined; yet tourists to Sihanoukville in 2019 was 1.9 million, increased by 10 percent,” the premier stated.

"The international tourist to Sihanoukville was 730,000, increased by 59 percent; while national tourist was 1.2 million, decreased by 6.5 percent."

According to Strongman Hun Sen, the decrease of number of local tourists does not mean they dislike Sihanoukville, yet they had many choices of traveling destinations. People can visit Kampot, Koh Kong, Rattankiri, or Mundolkiri thanks to peace and political stability.
