Sihanoukville (FN), Nov. 16 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that the Royal Government of Cambodia is requesting the Chinese Government to withdraw USD 170 million from the package of USD 600 million grant aids for Cambodia’s clean maritime project – no more discharging sewage and industrial waste into the ocean.
The statement was made at the inauguration of road construction in the kingdom’s coastal province Sihanoukville on 16 November 2019.
"We are requesting our Chinese friend to deduct about USD 100-170 million from a package of USD 600 million grant in order to ensure that our seawater is not contaminated by polluted water from the sewages,” said the premier.
Prime Minister has called on all people to promote hygiene and clean environment by properly disposing and managing waste and reducing plastic usages.
According to Prime Minister, the government has allocated approximately USD 2.5 million to rehabilitate the irrigation canals in Sihanoukville.
